Worship

Worship is something that we engage in continuously. Even those who claim not to believe in God pour their lives out into someone, or some-thing. The question is, "Who do you worship?"

About Truth and Worship

There is a story in the bible in the Gospel of John, chapter 4, about a woman who asked Jesus about the "right location" for worship. She was concerned about the truth. Jesus' answer re-directed her to a more important issue. He told her that worship is not about the correct location but rather, it is about the right God.

In the city of Athens, there were so many gods that the apostle Paul gave the following speech so that it would be clear who he was talking about:

"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill." (Acts 17:24-29)

Who you worship is such an important reality, and perhaps the most critical question anyone can examine thoughtfully, because worship changes, hearts, minds, lives, relationships, and communities. Therefore, at New Day we worship in reverent humility, exuberant gladness, and joy-filled praise and honor. We seek to bless God back with our worship!
